Licensed Plumbing Contractor, American Plumbing Company, Donaldsonville, LA

Think getting a licensed plumbing contractor isn't important? Imagine this. I went to video a drain line yesterday that was installed by an unlicensed plumber. I found the line was going uphill with about a 4" pitch. What does this mean? It means the entire drain system will have to be removed by breaking out the concrete to access the drain line and replace it. They thought they were saving $6,000.00 but instead it's going to cost them another $14,000.00 plus. Ouch!

American Plumbing, Denham Springs (Home Warranties?)

Home Warranties? Friend or Foe?

Well, let's face it. Everybody is in business to make money. However, home warranty companies have guidelines they are supposed to follow. For example: All of their plumbing companies are supposed to be licensed, insured and bonded. Well, that's not always the case. The other day, one of our technicians were contacted by his sister with a busted water heater. He went to check it out and found it was installed improperly with terrible workmanship. She told him her home warranty company sent somebody out a few months ago to check out her water heater and determined it had to be replaced. Well, the company replaced the water heater and now it's leaking. When our tech checked it out he found the water heater was installed violating several plumbing codes and the workmanship was poor. He asked who the company was that installed the water heater and found the company was not a plumbing company at all. They were not licensed, insured or bonded. Her warranty company just happened to be a company that calls us constantly wanting us to work for them but, they don't want to pay industry standard rates. We told them on several occasions that they will not get a plumbing company to work for them at their rates. It appears we were correct. So, buyer beware. If you have a warranty company and they send out a plumbing company, check them out. Look for their LMP number. Every plumbing company is required to have it on their business card, advertisement, plumbing trucks, website, etc. Hope this helps. :)

American Plumbing Company, Zachary, LA (Slab Leaks)

Have a slab leak? When you are checking proposals, make sure you see that the new line will be the same size as the one being replaced. This is very important. A number of companies sleeve a smaller line through the line being replaced. This reduces your water pressure. Why have a line replaced and end up with less water pressure? Make sure the plumbing company you are dealing with is looking out for you! Call American Plumbing!
